Empowering South Asia by looking to the future
Join us in shaping a sustainable future for South Asia and beyond through innovative solutions.
About us
The South Asia Foresight Network (SAFN) functions under the Millennium Project in Washington, DC. The SAFN consists of individuals, think tanks and other institutions that are active and interested in Futures Research in South Asian countries, including Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.

We aim to collaborate with South Asian countries to address regional challenges through foresight, innovation, and strategic policy development. By partnering with thought leaders, governments, and institutions in Sri Lanka, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan, Maldives, and Afghanistan, the Project fosters a platform for long-term thinking and regional cooperation.
Our mission in South Asia focuses on promoting sustainable development, anticipating future risks, and creating actionable strategies to advance economic, environmental, and social well-being. The initiative conducts scenario planning, policy workshops, and trend analysis to equip decision-makers with the tools to tackle issues such as climate change, water security, digital transformation, and youth employment.
Through its newly founded South Asian network, the Millennium Project is building a shared vision for a more resilient and inclusive future. It serves as a catalyst for cross-border collaboration, integrating local insights with global trends to shape policies that are both regionally rooted and future-ready.
About The Millennium Project Nodes
A Millennium Project Node is a self-organizing group of institutions and individuals recognized by the Millennium Project. Each Node helps facilitate the Project’s research or conducts its own research to support the Project’s goals.
Nodes identify emerging global issues and opportunities, explore potential solutions, and develop methods to carry out this research.
Each Millennium Project Node:
Takes the responsibility for a geographical area.
Has access to all Millennium Project resources, including staff, the information system, international panels, and other Nodes, to fulfill its responsibilities.
Selects its own Chair, who manages the Node’s work and communicates with the Project’s coordinating office.
