Washington, DC (March 28, 2026) – The South Asia Foresight Network (SAFN), the South Asia branch of the Millennium Network, welcomed Uditha Devapriya, an international relations and political analyst from Sri Lanka, as a Fellow. Commenting on the appointment, SAFN Executive Director Asanga Abeyagoonasekera stated: “At a time when regional tensions are spilling over from West Asia into South Asia, Uditha’s work—grounded in political economy and deeply informed by South Asian culture and the intellectual legacy of its iconic thinkers—brings timely and valuable insight to understanding the present moment.”

Uditha is a researcher, author, columnist, and analyst whose work spans various subjects, including geopolitics, politics, art and culture, history, and anthropology. He holds an LL.B. from the University of London and a Postgraduate Diploma in international relations from the Bandaranaike Centre for International Studies in Colombo. The author of five books, he is involved in several multidisciplinary research projects.

From 2016 to 2020, Uditha worked as an English Copywriter at Gravitas Integrated Holdings, an advertising agency. From 2022 to 2025, he was the Chief International Relations Analyst at Factum, an Asia-Pacific focused foreign policy think tank.

In 2024 Uditha was part of an international delegation which took part in the International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) across four US states, including Washington and Arizona. In 2025 he was a Resident Fellow at Kautilya School of Public Policy in Hyderabad, India. There he gave a series of lectures and interacted with students and academics, bringing Sri Lankan perspectives on geopolitics. That year he also lectured on Sri Lankan and Indian art and cultural modernism at the India International Centre in New Delhi.

A student of and writer on Sri Lankan art, culture, and history, Uditha works as a research consultant at the Martin Wickramasinghe Trust, overseeing research on Sri Lanka’s preeminent writer and novelist and related topics. There he is involved in a number of initiatives, including a publication and a series of lectures.

Uditha’s interests include South Asian geopolitics, the foreign relations of small states, the interplay of humanitarian conventions and military strategy in conflict zones, India’s relations with China, and the rise of middle powers like Türkiye. His dissertation at the BCIS, on Sri Lanka’s relations with Central Asia, won the Prize for the Best Dissertation in 2023. Outside of foreign policy, his interests include art, history, and anthropology.

SAFN, the regional network of the Millennium Project based in Washington, D.C., is a rapidly growing network dedicated to advancing multidimensional research in South and Southeast Asia. It brings together individuals, think tanks, and institutions committed to fostering foresight and innovation across the region.
